ATD: the title

Maybe Penguin is using the P-list as a focus group to
help determine the final title of the novel?

If so, it probably helps a lot, for folks who don't
like the title, to keep saying over and over and over
and over again that they don't like it, because then
Penguin will be certain to pay attention to that
person and find another title. 

It would be surprising if Pynchon didn't know of the
earlier novel  Against the Day, it only took about 10
seconds to find it on the internet.  If this does turn
out to be the new novel's title, as Slate reported,
won't readers have to assume Pynchon chose the title
knowing of the other book and assume that he's
referring or alluding to it?
