Bellow

Thanks for the Bellow link. I hadn't read that particular interview. But
its tone is very familiar from others I have read - so stuffy it's like
having your head filled up with the contents of someone's old vacuum
cleaner!

Bellow's late period remains a mystery to me. The contrast between the
life-affirming sparkle and verve of his masterpiece novels such as
Herzog or Humboldt's Gift, and the snide, curmudgeonly old reactionary
he later became, couldn't be greater.
