I know it's been well over a year since I've regularly posted, but I draw a
perverse comfort in seeing the same old flames still smoldering. My wife is
a big soap opera fan -- "American Magical Realism," she calls them -- and
she's always said that she finds it reassuring that she can miss months
worth of episodes only to tune in and still feel in touch.

God *damn* a new book soon! Woo-hoo!
