No.  Look:  I'm not Pynchon, I don't have a worldwide audience or 
constituency that might consider what I have to say, nor do I have ready media that would 
publish it, like the NY Times Op-Ed page, to cite one example.  So, I'm not 
comparing Pynchon to my insights but to what he might have said and where he 
might have said it.  I do think, his comments were banal, like man in the street 
stuff.  If you think they were pearls, well that's what you think.  But we 
wouldn't be talking about Pynchon at all if he weren't capable of better than 
that interview.

And yes, I could have offered more intelligent responses than what appear in 
that interview as, I would guess, could you have.
