Didn't mind it at all. Of the early stuff, I really enjoyed Running 
Dog. Some of the others I can barely remember.

The Names evokes a definite sense of malevolence and unease, but was 
ultimately a bit frustrating, which is the effect on me of a lot of his 
stuff. But I did like it far more than Mao II.

Ratner's Star is a real stinker.

I think Libra is the high point, followed by White Noise. Underworld is 
overblown but has its moments.

I agree that he does have a range. On the other hand, he does keep 
going over and over the same territory (football, Hitlerography, 
celebrity, cults, terrorism etc).
