While Mason is recovering from his bruised hip, he reads I
Corinthians, and ponders on the puzzle of resurrection of the dead. He
doesn't understand the passage and is given a little advice from Rebekah
who arrives in a minor visitation.
Chapter 41 begins on page 410 with Mr. LeSpark recalling that he
met Mason and Dixon early on in their work, at a party held at Lepton
Castle.
Mr. LeSpark tells the story that he went out into the
countryside feeling protected by the invisible hand of commerce to check
on his suppliers. One of his suppliers was the plantation where iron was
extracted, owned by Lord and Lady Lepton. Mr. LeSpark appreciated the
way in which everything seemed to work perfectly in the iron production.
