It reminds me of Hesse's Glasperlenspiel; 
the jargon obviously represents concepts both familiar and dear to those in the circles that would be the readership.  

there's probably a good po-mo word for that shift in awareness that happens when a person starts to give a shit about something.  Like for instance, philosophy and most sports for me , are on one side of that line while novels and music are on the other; but must admit one could get in the habit of enjoying sports and philosophy a lot. 
And sounding a little odd to those who don't???  Like "...he said liminality, I remember Broussard's 1953 article about liminality, I was living in a coldwater flat in Gstaad; and then the point that Horwitz-Tucker made about liminality in the Thesis on Indeterminacy in 1978 which took the Oneiromancers' Convention by storm; and of course, Storm's rebuttal..."
