Pynchon's New Book?

So, exactly how did this thread begin?  What evidence is there that the new one is imminent in December?  On whose authority?

Is there any set pattern to the release of his books?  Mason & Dixon came out in the Spring. GR came out in early 1973 - want to say Jan or Feb, right?  Don't recall release times for Vineland or Slow Learner. The only real tipoff, I think, is if we see a book review or article in New York Times. About a month previous to Vineland, SL, and M&D he published a review or article in the NYTBR.

Do two "appearances" on The Simpsons qualify?
