While in Dallas, check out the place where Robert Johnson made his first
recordings. He had one other recording session the following year in San
Antonio.

"Boarded-up, padlocked and circled by barbed wire, 508 Park Ave. looks
like just another victim of urban decay in Dallas.

"But in 1936, the three-story Art Deco building was the likely site of
one of the most influential – and least known – chapters in American
music history.

"It was here, two blocks east of the current City Hall, that Delta blues
legend Robert Johnson probably recorded 13 songs that shaped the course
of blues and rock 'n' roll. The tunes, including "Love in Vain,"
"Hellhound on My Trail" and "Me and the Devil Blues," made a huge impact
on countless acts, from Muddy Waters to Led Zeppelin to the Rolling
Stones. "
