random author question

OK, about a year ago I read a short story by an author who had a
really, really silly name.  I can't remember what it was but it was
like JR Pancake or Elroy Spaghettio or something equally weird like
that.  He only wrote one small book of short stories before killing
himself at a young age.  The story I read was about a man encountering
a very young female prostitute one night.  The stories were rather
tragic, and I believe the girl in this killed herself or was killed in
the end.

I know this is totally random, and very vague, but I figure if anyone
would know it would be you guys.  I enjoyed the story quite a bit and
want to find him again.
