The Solaris translation is flawed, in that I believe the only English 
translation available was translated from the French translation of the 
original Polish.  Weird, eh?

I didn't see anything particularly wrong with the results when I read the 
book, which I enjoyed, but after that I read the Cyberiad, and you get a 
much clearer sense of his grasp of language and a greater feel for the 
author.  Does anyone know why a new translation of Solaris has yet to 
happen?
