I think it fits... I find the book to be cruel and devastating at
times too... the humor too is rather sad for me...  it feels desperate
and absurd.  Parts certainly make me laugh out loud but then scenes
like the dead soldiers clutching their Miraculous Medals like Dumbo
his feather bring it all back into focus, make the humor feel almost
obscene and unsettling... and that's part of why I think it's such an
amazing and powerful book.  The thin overlay of humor on top of a
bleak, grim situation.  Who knows if Miller ever even read the book
but I think it certainly fits as a reminder before you sit down and
open the book again, what it's all really about...
