"One issue that Hall ran into was creating unique dialogue for the
characters to differentiate his from other Western novels at the time.
'I knew what the editing was going to be and went back to these pages,' Hall
mused. 'I had to give some of the characters something to work with and
asked my wife what to put in there and put in the characters … a higher
level of education and it was great fun for me, giving them high Victorian
lingo.'"
