My girlfriend (now meine Frau) and I read it aloud back when it came out while we were living in her car. It was good.
There's a rainstorm in the book that has stayed in my mind.
Song of Solomon was also good.
Both books are sad, but quite well written.
Of the 2, I liked Song of Solomon better back then.
