Try it. I first read "Die Enden der Parabel" two times and just finished reading it in english, so rather than using a dictionary I could compare certain passages with the german version. While I sometimes thought of german translations of english books as odd after I read them in english I think the translation by Elfriede Jelinek and Thomas Piltz is great. It catches the voice of the book, so to say. They are equally fun to read.
I wonder what english native speakers think of german-writing authors they read in their language? Like Günter Grass, Patrick Süskind or Franz Kafka whom nearly every student around here loathes? Really would like to know :)
