I grouped them together because they're all involved in exchanging insults
in front of the rest of us. It's a pathetic display that, with each passing
year, seems more and more pathological.

I think Doug is one of the most knowledgeable Pynchon readers on the list
and I think the mockery he got after generously bringing the Playboy Japan
item to our attention and even supplying a translation remains a low point
here--just the sort of thing that could discourage subscribers from being
full participants. I've also been, um, appalled by insults Doug leveled at
Paul--and that's the sort of thing that bugs me. I wish it would stop,
from all corners. Enough already.
