Here's an even better example of a wasted post,
davemarc, by the person responsible for probably the
most reposting of previous threads with a one line
response, as well as a major flamethrower you somehow
failed to mention when you were calling people out
yesterday.

I do appreciate that you acknowledge some positive
aspects about my participation here, that's generous
of you, thanks.

I'll add one thing I'm proud of: I go through the
p-list posts everyday - and have been doing so for
this pupose for many years now - and choose the ones
with new Pynchon-related info, and send them to a
Pynchon scholar who doesn't have time to wade through
all the non-p-related stuff (some of which I generate,
admittedly) because of a physical disability and the
unacceptable amount of time this person would have to
put into listening to the email being read out loud.

For a moment, please try to picture somebody listening
to an automated computer voice software program
reading through some of these posts that string 7, 8,
9K of junk from previous threads before the new
one-line response at the end of the message. For a
real horror story, take a look at some of the
Pynchon-l digests, where this material is often
repeated by one after another interlocutor.

This is an example of a case where boorish list
behavior on the part of just about everybody except me
and McMullen prevents somebody from taking part who
could do so if p-listers generally were more
considerate in this respect.

I agree with McMullen, in his new-found zeal for civil
discourse here - people should keep complaining until
offending behavior stops.

Consider this a formal complaint against everybody who
continues this practice of reposting redundant
material from previous emails. Summarize the points
to which you want to respond, it works and produces
more powerful discussion.

Consider this a formal complaint against Mackin, too.
For wasting bandwidth with his reposting of old
material, and for his constant dogging of my posts
with braindead insults - if "Morris" can stop, I
expect Mackin can, too - so we can continue the ATD
discussion without the constant interruption of his
insults. Instead, I'd like to invite Mackin to share
more of his priceless insight based on a life longer
than any of us have enjoyed, he's actually lived
through much of the period Pynchon tackles in GR, and
expect he'll have much to offer re ATD, too.

Now, davemarc, please watch how Mackin responds and
kindly take his posts into consideration next time you
decide to point fingers. I'm assuming you'll continue
to monitor my list behavior with an eagle eye, too :)

Back to Pynchon...
