It seems that one of the characters in the novel by another pynched writer
Eduardo Lago called Llamame Brooklyn (Call Me Brooklyn) is Pynchon himself.
The novel by the way won a prestigious literary award.
"A series of unusual and unforgettable characters parade through the pages,
from the clients of the Oakland who are trapped in a rather fatal destiny to
Russian music student Nadia Orlov, the object of Ackermans obsession and
the only reader he wants for his novel. Llámame Brooklyn also pays homage to
real-life artists like painter Mark Rothko and writers Felipe Alfau and
Thomas Pynchon. Lago talked to Críticas about the art of writing, being a
foreigner in New York, and his nostalgia for a long-gone Brooklyn."

"Llámame Brooklyn is a story about love, friendship and loneliness, as well
as a textual voyage. From Coney Island to the ruins of a small village in
Toscana (Italy), where Bocaccio lived his last days. From secret tunnels in
which we find the most forgotten inhabitants of Manhattan to the studio
where the painter Mark Rothko put an end to his life, to the jazz clubs
frequently visited by Thomas Pynchon and to a bar in Madrid where we will
learn the truth about the narrator's past. This novel is a chant to mystery
and to the power of the written word."

In the novel appear real figures who are very important for their time, such
as painter Mart Rothko or the writer Thomas Pynchon, and some big shots of
culture with slightly veiled names like Harry Blum (almost sure: Harold
Bloom, author of The Western Canon")

As he himself says:
Although I do not consider him my literary father because of his difficulty
in 'Call me Brooklyn' Pynchon is an important presence. Since I couldn't do
with him anything else I absorbed him and converted him into a character in
order to laugh at literary critics.
