Portuguese Translator of GR and M&D

Perhaps that connection led to Pynchon's providing a
blurb for a Portuguese book a while back, I forget the
title but I've got a copy of the book.  I wondered if
Pynchon might have learned some Portuguese in the
process, too.

Stories like this are a good reminder that Pynchon is
probably a fairly "normal" person, able to interact
with others, take care of business, etc., not the
social misfit/hermit/druggie that's sometimes
presented instead.
