I don't know if I am stating the obvious here - but why is it that AtD 
is already available in Europe and not in the US, although Pynchon is 
an American writer? I picked up a copy (Penguin Press) of AtD yesterday 
in an english Bookstore in Paris. Sadly enough, I simply do not have 
the time to read it yet, so I'll have to look at it sitting in the 
bookshelf, imagining what is inside...
