"We bombed his home"

I used to know a German Jewish mathematician, the father of a friend.
He once told me he had been acquainted with von Braun in graduate
school, at Heidelberg I think.

Once von Braun invited him to go sailing on a lake. They got in von
Braun's small sailboat, and when they were out in the water, von Braun
mentioned that he'd never spoken with a Jew before. It was all my
friend's father could remember about the encounter.
