<<The Time review, just linked at The Modern Word, contains what, in
most novel descriptions, you could call a pretty comprehensive plot
analysis. In the case of Pynchon, what it breaks down to is that Lacayo
reveals (spoils) the fates of a couple of the main characters. Now,
when one sets out to read a 1,000 page novel, it's with the
understanding that major events will be sloooowly spelled out--the
stuff he spoils doesn't happen for several hundred pages in. So, that
wasn't nice. Admittedly we're not reading Pynchon for the "plot," but
we do all like surprises and I just thought some of you might like a
warning.>>
It's also shallow and pointless. Ignore it, if you fear spoilers. It
has little of interest to say.
