It's a term (also a website) about television mainly and refers to when a 
show pushes its premise a step too far and sinks the entire enterprise.  (It 
jumps the shark.)

The term derives from a Happy Days episode when Fonzie goes waterskiing and, 
seeing a shark jumps over it, thereby forfeiting the show's agreement with its 
audience about its boundaries of (un)believability.

The website, by the way, is pretty entertaining.
