Really stupid but fun is the Dark Prince series -James Bond in Space.
Have excellent memories (these memories are now age 30) on Dying Earth.
Was the only Sf writer I remember who used footnotes and endnotes
-fascinated me; am still fond of these (lists? databases? hmmmm.....) -
talking about footnotes, does anyone remember the 90 pages footnote or
so in Lake Wobegon Days by some conservative American author? Loved it
more than that so-called novel.

Vance was, I believe, always more popular on the old continent.

At the time, my oldest sister and me were competing for reading as much
SF as possible -she's still an expert.

Rereading that stuff is usually very disappointing.

Michel.
