Is this Thomas Pynchon?

For the record, as I was trying to convince a bookseller to give me a
copy of AtD (at four bookstores the first person I talked to
guaranteed to sell me one, and then another bookseller came along and
stopped them from going to the back room for it) there was a man
around Pynchon's age waiting in line in front of me. He wore
sunglasses with a light purple tint and was hitting on the information
desk woman while waiting for a book on military history - something by
a guy named Evans. When he heard what I was looking for he gave a
kind of guffaw and said "Pynchon, huh? You're a Pynchon fan?" (he
said it pin-CHON, too, like in the Simpsons episode - had a similar
voice as in that appearance as well). He said "I met Pynchon once.
No one really knows what he looks like, you know? I'm not a fan. V,
you know?" I told him I liked GR quite a bit and he kind of gave a
laugh and wished me luck before going to look for his book. He had
more weight to him than the guy in the photo in the link but if you
put some purple sunglasses on him, not too far off. I think I'll
indulge in the fantasy :P
