Yeah, Menand writes exclusively for the New Yorker now anyway, while Leonard makes frequent appearances in NYRB's pages. Leonard would be the perfect choice--he's still the man when it comes to evoking the wonders of a meta-fiction all crammed-packed full of _stuff_. (His review of M&D, originally written for the Nation, can be found in his collection When the Kissing Had to Stop. Sorry, I don't have a link.) This new Pynchon, according to everything I've heard about it (and the 25 pages I've read), would be a big fat 85-mile-per-hour softball straight across the plate for Leonard. Let's hope he receives the call to bat.

me, too--
maybe we can answer better the question after I've read it.
Menand reviewed the book in the New Yorker so he won't do the NYRB review I think. I would guess John Leonard.

I haven't bought the book yet, but I like reading reviews, don't worry
about spoliers.
However the negative reviews ask the reasonable question, or seem to
have had the similar response of, what's the point of it all? How do
its many strewn parts connect and create a coherent novel (concluding
that they don't)? A fair question, I should think. Whereas none of
the positive reviews are able to construct a point, or suggest one;
rather, there are a lot of comments along the lines of "Pynchon fans
wlil love it."
