AtD 806 - general (spoilerish) impressions so far

I just finished reading the account of Kit's journey through the blasted and
magical terrain of Central Asia and Siberia, and the description of the
Tunguska Event, and those 60 pages or so are simply amazing. This is truly
more than we could have hoped for, and these past 60 pages - along with many
other passages in the novel - easily surpass both Vineland and M&D, IMO. AtD
is more uneven than both of these novels, but at its best, it's clearly
Pynchon's best writing since GR. And now I'm off to bed, and some hopefully
very weird dreams.
