Wow!  Thanks Jil, Ljo and April!    Laura and I are not alone.    :-) 
Someone ought to write to the old who's it (Jonathan Cape of the 
Guardian)  and tell him there are over a  half-dozen active (at least 
reading)  p-listers  and that's probably only 10% of the total, 
knowing how lurkers are.

"Against the Day" is a great book  for a feminist reading but I'm not 
going to go there (probably ever).   I very much enjoyed the female 
characters in the book although none quite as much as Oedipa.
