Not to single anybody out, but don't you realize how
absurd it sounds to whine like this before a group
reading has even started?
It's not like you're roping yourself to a treadmill,
is it? Couldn't a group project start off slow and
pick up speed? Could it start off too quickly and
slow down? People could provide feedback a few weeks
or months in, or monitor the pace continuously,
adjusting the schedule as necessary to account for
ebbs and floods of interest and participation.
Could the same energy that goes into speculating
about what a group reading might be like go instead
into reading and discussing the book?
Hilarious to see it shake out this way, again. Happens
every time.
