Aha. just got to the section that was used for the excerpt - Jimmy Drop, 
punkinroller, etc. And I guess is does fit right in, whereas I'd always 
assumed it was an abberation, or a snippet from a book within a book, or 
something.

Still leaves the mystery of why that little section was used for the Penguin 
Press catalogue....
