I still fail to see anything constructive in your
original comments, but will accept a sincere apology
if that's what you're offering. 

By way of explanation, I call your observation
"braindead" because you offered it without any kind of
reasoned argument to support it.  If you'd like to
make some statement about why Reef's desire to blow
himself up in an apparent political assassination
attempt doesn't or can't or shouldn't evoke the
current crop of suicide bombers in Afghanistan and
Iraq, this could turn into an interesting discussion,
at least the potential for that remains, it's a topic
I think is worth talking about, I find it pretty
interesting that in 2006 Pynchon is presenting a
picture of American terrorists with dynamite. But you
close off that possibility with your snarky dismissal,
and that's what makes conversation around here so
frustrating at times, in those instances when people
want to focus on the book and not on the list
personalities and banter.
