Have never read that particular author.  I will look him up.

Hopefully one day I will be fluent in German.  I picked up more in one
class than I did of French in over four years of it in high school.  I
would like to live in Germany for a time, if money and circumstances
permit.  And for the record I will second the idea that poor English
doesn't mean anything on this list.  Regardless of eleoquence, the
idea still usually manages to come across and the idea is what is
important.
