The Upper West Side does have more of a "family"
feeling to it, in my experience of hanging out in the
neighborhood around my brother's place on W. 72d near
the river, in the stores and restaurants and parks on
the sidewalks there, compared to the Upper East Side
where he used to live. I've explored the west side
between St. John the Divine and Columbus Circle, on
several trips over the past few years, and will go
back again soon.
