Vineland/Arcata

I've lived in Arcata now for 10 years, and initially thought parts of
Vineland were exaggerated and cartoonish.

Now after living here for a while I understand that, if anything, Pynchon
was erring on the side of restraint.

P.S. I'm pitching a story to the local weekly about Pynchon's connection to
Humboldt County (beyond the obvious agricultural affinities), hopefully to
be published around the time AtD appears. I have a few leads (rumors really
at this point) about where and when he lived here. Any help or info list
members could provide would be greatly appreciated.
