well, eckshually, wouldn't it be "emetic" rather than "laxative" - and wouldn't that more closely apply to peyote buttons (mescaline) rather than the mushrooms (psilocybin)? in the psych lab, they would probably just have pills anyway
let's hope it isn't Ewan Cameron-ish dudes getting the money for research: given the current administration's preferences it's hard to imagine anything very mellow getting supported...(large dose of hallucinogen, religious experience promoted by recordings of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell)
