P writing on drugs? Re: On The Road (Destination: Starbucks)

For what it's worth, Frank Zappa always maintained that he had tried pot,
but that he hadn't experimented with other drugs. Even so, his music was
some of the most psychedelic around, and drug references were not
infrequent.
I would guess that TRP is a frequent note-writer, including stoned
observations (are we seeing these since Vineland/the birth of his boy?), but
the organization that informs his published works does not strike me as the
being created under the influence.
Similarly: I don't believe that Pynchon is under the influence of active
paranoia. I do believe that he has past personal knowledge of paranoia, as
I don't believe that he would have otherwise settled on it has such an
important frequent theme. I don't think that his use of paranoid themes
would be as intelligent of as effective, otherwise. His drug passages are
not as effective, btw, imho, so...
