What is the relation of GR to Ulysses? Well take note that you
assumed "his agon with Joyce" meant Ulysses. Ulysses is the (often
denied) genius benchmark for 20th Century fiction. And both Pynchon
and Joyce have been quoted with remarks about the milestone the
foresaw their respective works to be. And both were correct about
their work's importance.
