include ATD + PAGE # + SUBJECT to avoid Spoilers Re: AtD RE: ATD Spoilers

The page number should be the latest relevant page known to the poster.

The problem with including Subject would be that it could lead to textmosis.

Let's say there were a section, ending at page 40, where Pynchon introduces
a sailor character named Tristan Chanty, who sings a song about anal sex.
It's clear that a number of subscribers would appreciate being surprised
upon hitting section instead of having it forecast in a subject header--

ATD 40 Tristan Chanty
ATD 40 Anal Sex Song
ATD 40 Tristan Chanty Anal Sex Song

--or a post without a spoiler warning.

That's the reason for

ATD 40

Regarding Paul's suggestion that those of us who don't want to read spoilers
can just unsubscribe, I could say the same thing about those who feel
compelled to spoil--they could just unsubscribe too. But I don't think that
would be
desirable or necessary.

Reviving the M&D spoiler protocol (or something close to it)
enables everyone to participate freely without unsubscribing. Furthermore,
the existence of that wiki (not around back in M&D's day) gives folks
another outlet for reading and writing about the book during the rollout
period. The thing about pynchon-l is that it pushes the info at the
subscribers.
