AtD RE: ATD Spoilers

What is the alternative  to "commerce" and
wage-slavery for people living in the US?  Apart from
being willing to starve, or to somehow find a way to
live off the fat of the land, how can this be
voluntary? (I do understand and honor the distinctions
with slavery as in the Middle Passage & the rest of
those tragedies.)
