Mendelson review of Vineland

I don't have a copy of the review, sorry.  But,
reading Against the Day won't be much different in at
least one important respect from Mason & Dixon: not
only the usual goldmine of historical and artistic
references and allusions to track down (see
http://pynchonwiki.com for an amazing start) but also
interconnections with Pynchon's other novels.  This is
obvious beginning on page one of Against the Day.
Vineland's in there, so is Mason & Dixon, and
Gravity's Rainbow, and The Crying of Lot 49, and V.
Singling up all lines, that was obvious in the part of
the book that I've read.

I'm happy to let others focus on finding fault with
the new novel, I expect I'll be having too much fun
the first time through to worry much about critical
analysis.  Plenty of time to rip it to shreds later.
