Pynchon perigrinations

Pynchon doesn't make public his travel plans (duh), and I'm just curious to 
how many locations of AtD he has been during his research. I'm sure the 
older Pynchon doesn't need Baedecker anymore in order to get acquianted with 
a setting. I doubt that he's been to Siberia or Central Asia, but, most 
probably, he did visit London, Gottingen, Vienna, Venice, maybe some country 
in the Balkans. Is there any rumours as to his stint in Europe?
