Why NOT "A screaming comes across the sky"?

I agree. But I'm reminded of an acquaintance who complained of the
'iron queen' in the first few lines. What was that, he wanted to
know and refused to read the book on the basis of that initial
obscurity. As I read it the first page and a half is a dream
sequence, no? And the sentence 'But it is already light' brings us
into the quotidian sphere. Is that correct? And does anyone know
the source of the iron queen?
