trivia from Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation:
the last word of the play (as opposed to the last word, which was probably tyrannis) that Lincoln heard may have been "sockdollagizing" which apparently meant the same kind of thing as sock puppetry, in particular applied to interfering hostesses that would run people's lives for them...
she (SV) read her own book for Books on Tape, and she tells the actual joke from the script -- it sounded like a pretty lame joke and sexist to boot --
