For What Its Worth....
....I stumbled onto a PBS broadcast yesterday evening (here in sunny Apple-cookie, NM) called "Expo; The White City". It was part two of a two part broadcast and the closing credits identified Penn State or U Penn PBS as the original producers. Employing mostly archival film stock and sundry material, it recounts the 1893 World Expo in considerable detail.
I was delighted to be informed that this massive undertaking was accompanied by some gem-like FUBARs and SNAFUs that are tailor-made for serious lampooning. Now I do not pretend to know how much of ATD will actually transpire at the Chicago Expo locale (how much of V. really took place in the NY sewers?), but the setting would seem to support a global cast of god-knows-who, all convening in Chicago, from wherever, to participate in a World Expo that sometimes worked less well than had been planned upon. If any listers can find and view the production, I believe they would find it interesting and entertaining, and hopefully enhance an initial reading of ATD as well, with useful background information about visiting the "White City".
                                                                        truly,
                                                                        ruud
