'Trivial' isn't the right word, but 'became' is apt - he sure wasn't
elected. He was appointed by the Supreme Court and after having to run a
gauntlet of protest and egg-throwing at his mostly celebrity-free
Inauguration,  was struggling to maintain his credibility until Sept 11
landed in his lap and gave him and the cackling villains around him
carte blanche to f**k up our world for us.
