Oh, you're looking at it like a bookstore, comparing
lulu to Amazon.

I see lulu.com as a tool for an author who wants to
publish and sell a book outside of traditional book
publishing and distribution circles. A place where
people can buy the book once they know about it.
Again, I wouldn't depend on this site to promote and
market a book.

No doubt there are many obstacles to publishing
success. But some people seem to overcome them, even
those without obvious talent for writing fiction or
non-fiction. Lulu.com is just one of many tools that
an author could use. I do believe that as more people
are able to publish, the possibility of more
interesting books arises, also the probability that
most of it is not going to interest me. Personally I
find it pretty exciting to see how young people
especially - my son's 19 - are figuring out how to get
their ideas out there and create communities of
interest, to publish and find readers. I'm very
optimistic.
