Are you an American?  If so, I don't know why you need to ask.  If not, it's 
because the American electoral process is a cynical joke that, on the one 
hand, lies, distorts, and answers to money while, at the same time, plays upon the 
desire of the average citizen to be patriotic and responsible; i.e., to vote. 
 (Plus it's often (usually) blatantly corrupt.)  Anyone with a brain in his 
head should abdicate the process and refuse to vote.  Bush is only the most 
egregious example.  Actors, wrestlers, bodybuilders, criminals--people vote for 
them.  It's an embarrassing disgrace.
