When did it all start?

As you can imagine there are hundreds of new P-listers watching at the angry
outbursts punctuating a literary discussion e-mail list, and wondering 'what
the hell is going on?' and 'why is it going on?' The dogs are not asleep,
and that was one of the reasons I asked this question, how come that getting
personal has become, unfortunately, the trademark of the P-list? Just think
of P-list as a country with its history, like history of any country it has
some unpleasant moments, which does not mean that a newcomer doesn't have
the right to know about them, I'm only talking about onlist events, e.g.
something that was meant to be public. You can suspect me as long as you
wish, that's your right. I think I found the answer to my question, but I
will not voice it, as it may make the 'bad blood' even worse, but, it still
surprises me how can brilliant literary insights and most vicious personal
attacks so easily co-exist in one space.

>Yeah, but you seem *very* keen on this topic, *very* curious about all

>There are probably some p-listers who could hold their heads up and say
>they've never been guilty of flaming or sniping or letting disputes
>spiral into personal animosity etc. I'm not one of them, I admit. But
>let me just add my voice to those who've suggested we let sleeping dogs
