More cherished than the vintage first printing paperback (my parents') that
he autographed for me at a reading is when at another reading I asked him to
autograph a cassette that I taped of his reading; he hesitated a moment,
gave me a funny look, and wrote (quotes included) "Contents Unknown" and on
the next line signed the cassette.

What a great voice.  If you tune into my station during Xmas days, you may
be luck to hear him reading his "A Junky's Christmas" (or whatever the name
is), his truly touch take on "The Cop and the Anthem."
