NP - Secrets and Lies Shroud Origins of Giant Swastika (NYT)

Through happenstance, I once spent an hour or so with a high school
exchange student from Kyrghizstan.  She was a pleasant and intelligent
person, with the bad teeth to prove she was from a former Soviet
satellite country.  Her mother was a medical doctor, and Russian was
the first language in their family.  Our happenstance placed us in the
Eastern Sierra of California, which she compared very politely with
the Tian Shan range in her country.

I though of asking her about the Kyrghiz Light, but her English was limited.
